Hello! I'm Tina

I know what it feels like to struggle with overwhelm, second-guessing your teaching choices, and wondering if you're really making the impact you hope for in your students’ lives. I went searching for ways to better support my dancers not just technically, but emotionally too.
Only a few years ago, I was right where you are.
Just like you, I wanted to become the kind of educator who could confidently lead my students, nurture their wellbeing, and create a positive, lasting influence without burning out in the process.
Back then, I was running a busy dance studio, raising a young family, and trying to keep up with an industry that was changing faster than I could manage. I cared deeply, but I was tired. I wanted to grow as a teacher and leader, but most of the professional development I could find didn’t speak to the real challenges we face in the studio like anxiety in kids, tricky parent conversations, or keeping students engaged and grounded when the energy is all over the place.
And continually found that a lack of emotional support training and practical wellbeing tools for dance educators was standing in my way.
So I went in search of a better way to teach one that integrated psychology, communication, and classroom culture with the high standards of dance training I believe in.
When I couldn’t find a complete solution, I made it my mission to create one. That’s how the Thriving Educator Academy (T.E.A) was born a strengths-based, emotionally intelligent framework for teachers and studio owners who want to grow confident, capable performers on stage and off™.
Now, 20+ years into my teaching journey, I’ve seen this approach change not just my own studio—but dozens of classrooms and careers around Australia. And I’d love to share what I’ve learned with you, too.
I believe that when educators thrive, students do too
Â
Why i do it
For over 20 years, I’ve been in the studio trenches: teaching, mentoring, guiding dancers through both technical growth and emotional ups and downs. As the director of a thriving dance studio in Hervey Bay and a certified Positive Psychology Practitioner, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges educators face in trying to balance classroom management, student wellbeing, and their own professional confidence.
My background spans across teaching, adjudicating, mentoring, and creative education, and I’ve written for leading Australian dance publications on topics like emotional regulation, mindset, and safe teaching practices. I’m also a qualified personal trainer and makeup artist, which means I understand the full scope of what it takes to support performers, on stage and off.
But what drives me most is helping teachers feel resourced, respected, and ready. I created the Thriving Educator Academy because I believe that when educators feel strong and supported, they create ripple effects of positive change in their studios and beyond.
You don’t need to burn out to do this work well. And you certainly don’t have to figure it all out alone. I'm here to walk alongside you, bringing research-backed strategies, practical tools, and a whole lot of real talk to help you show up with calm, clarity, and confidence.

During that time Tina has been a consistent and compassionate warrior for dance and dancers, ever seeking to collaborate, and when required drive, the conversation of how our industry can improve the physical and mental health outcomes of those young dancers in our care.

Tina has been amazing with my daughter. She has really helped to guide my daughter during times of struggle when she has been feeling down and given her some amazing guidance and tools to help with her self-esteem and self-talk. She continues to help my daughter navigate challenging times while dancing and to ingrain in my daughter her self-worth and confidence. Forever grateful!
